HashTab is a Windows shell extension which adds a tab called "File Hashes" to the Windows Explorer file properties. The tab contains the MD5, SHA1 and CRC-32 file hashes. These are common hashes that are used to verify the integrity and authenticity of files. Many download sites list the MD5 hash along with the download link. The HashTab makes it very simple for Windows users to check these hashes on any file on the system without using external tools. The screenshot to the right shows an example. (This is the same file that you download at the top of the page.) [11/15/2007] HashTab version 2.0 is released! Several new features have been added to make HashTab more useful and useable. This is the first change to the user interface since version 1.0. More hash algorithms are supported (right click the list to configure which ones are computed). New features in 2.0: 10 supported hash algorithms Hash algorithms are configurable, only calculate the ones you care about. Easier to copy hash data out of HashTab Easier to compare hash text Better status indicators when loading and hashing files for comparison To upgrade, just run the new installer. Please help translate HashTab! Translations for the following languages are still needed: Arabic, Bulgarian, Finnish, French, Hebrew, Portuguese and Thai. You can download the HashTab Translation File here. Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it. The file is in Unicode format. Open it with Notepad and make your changes. When you save it, make sure you save it as a Unicode file. Send the translated file to beta@beeblebrox.org. The text to be translated is in quotes. Some quoted strings don't need to be translated, it should be obvious because you will wonder how to translate something like "MS Shell Dlg" into your language. Some strings are placeholders for hash descriptions please find a suitable one-line description that works in your language. (Wikipedia ftw.) Let me know if you run into any problems or questions.
